Lamar Odom is a stud! If you look at it realisticaly he is! He makes his teamates better, can take anyone off the dribble and create, and has the skill level of say a Magic! I am not comparing him to Magic, but in a year or two if we are patient, he will be one of the very best. Phil has got to love someone like him on our team. I think it is looking up for us, maybe not this year but in a few we will be title continders. Keep Lamar!!!

Re: I have been saying it all year!
Mon, March 13, 2006 - 7:17 AMGood talent but........
He is not aggressive enough. He is afraid to disrupt Kobe in the offense. He also falls asleep at. times. I can also say he is not the shapest tool in the shed. He and Magic could not be considered in the same league. -

Re: I have been saying it all year!
Mon, March 13, 2006 - 8:11 AMNo you are right, but he has the skill level to be a superstar. He doesn't disrupt the offense, he is the facilatator of it! He could be a bit more agressive, but he is learning how to showcase his talents within Phil's Trianagle offense. I think next year after he and Kobe have played together long enough the two of them are going to be a hell of a duo! They may make a little noise this year but I think good things are bound to happen in the near future. I think LA needs to embrace Lamar, cuz he is something very special. -

Mon, March 13, 2006 - 8:44 AMHope you are right.
I read they were trying to move Odom before the trade deadline and may try in move him in the offseason. -

Re: I have been saying it all year!
Mon, March 13, 2006 - 9:13 AMI doubt Phil will let that happen, unless it includes Kevin Garnett! Lamar is a baller and definately makes his teammates better, they need a third/ second scorer though. Lamar is more of a facilatator then a scorer, he cabable of scoring 20 a night, but looks to pass more then shoot!

Re: I have been saying it all year!
Mon, March 13, 2006 - 10:35 PMHe has his moments but needs to be more consistent. I've seen him do wonders with the rock and sometimes I've seen a 9th grader with better ball skills.
I think a center with a post-up and passing game can take his game go to the next level. Until then, he's just Lamar. -

Re: I have been saying it all year!
Tue, March 14, 2006 - 8:15 AMI will give you that. But 15 7 and 7 a night is pretty fantastic! One more piece to this puzzle and we are all good. We can already hang with the best, we have beaten, Spurs at their home, Pistons, and the Heat, and the Mavs 2 out of 3! We just have to find a way to beat the bad teams, ie. Portland, Atlanta, you know the games we take off!

Re: Odom
Mon, April 10, 2006 - 10:37 PMI like the idea of bringing KG in LA...it just might happen.
Although Odom is playing good, I'd trade him without hestitation if it meant KG wearing purple and gold. -
-
Re: Odom
Tue, April 11, 2006 - 6:26 PMI will not argue with you, KG is one of those superstars, Lamar has the potential to be that good, in fact he has shut down KG when going heads up with him. We need one more prolific scorer, to go with Kobe and then Lamar is even more valuable, the plays he could make with two scorers is limitless! -

Re: Odom
Mon, April 17, 2006 - 8:03 AMI still wouldn't say Odom is great, but he sure has improved in the triangle the last couple months. They will really need him to step up in the playoffs. Nice to see Kwame contribute as well. If he could just hang on to the damn ball he could be dominate.
I went to the Laker/Suns game here in Phoenix last week. Parker cannot guard Nash. That scares me coming into the playoffs. The Lakers do not have a guard who can keep Nash from getting all the way to the basket. This wiil be a good series but I see the Suns winning it in seven.

Re: I have been saying it all year!
Tue, April 25, 2006 - 6:47 PMI'd say he is turning more into a Pippen-like player than a Magic. I would never want him to have to be the leader, but he can get a double-double every night. The Lakers just need experience down low. They missed so many layups in game one against Phoenix, I thought I was going to shit myself. Phoenix isn't going to send your shots back! Take it strong and get them fouled out!
arrgh..
That said, I think we might even be a bit ahead of schedule. -

that's if the refs are willing to call it the obvious non call on Tim Thomas on Kobe when the Lakers could have made it a two point game... -

Well, yeah. They will miss some, but they will never call it when you come in weak.
Lakers have suffered from some bad calls before, what about the hip checks the Pistons kept giving Fisher at midcourt during the finals?
Thomas was fouling on every rebound. He hooked his arm around the closest Laker and shoved him out of the way as soon as the ball was in the air. I hope the refs look at the tape before the next game.

Looks like Odom may be the difference in the Suns series. So far Marion is a non-factor. -

Odom, Game Two, and a look into the future.

I have to agree. I'm glad he's starting to get it. The Matrix has a hardware problem.
Walton has been playing well too.
Phoenix will probably run some double teams at Odom in the next game. Just watch. That's the NBA playoffs, it's all about adjustments. It's like a chess match. The Lakers did much better on defensive rebounding in game two, and they mixed the defense up well.
Three more games! If they can get by Phoenix, it looks like the Clippers will be next... and you know the Lakers can beat them. -

I would have to think it was the first time an NBA playoff series had been played entirely in one arena.....unless the Knicks and Nets shared a place at one point which I don't remember if that ever happened....

It wouldn't be so bad, I think they'll send Luke's man, Cook's Man or Kwame's man at him (depending on matchups). No one is going to leave Kobe. Unless he is an idiot, or the coach is. It still should be fun to have them in L.A. -

Re: Odom, Game Two, and a look into the future.
Thu, April 27, 2006 - 2:29 PMTrue Gary,
Actually what I meant was Kobe would not be drawing the double team. You probably noticed Kobe was instantly drawing double teams to try and get the ball out of his hands. That strategy fit in perfectly with Phil's strategy to feed the post. This is playing out nicely (so far). -
